Victorian Pins for your hat or lapel. (July 27, 2004)

I received a catalog in the mail and saw this item:

I thought to myself, this is beautiful. It's Victorian and it has a cameo button on it, just my style, except for the price. Then it dawned on me, these are just buttons on a pin back. I decided to try and make similar items myself. I bought 144 pin backs for six dollars and ordered a few victorian theme button bundles for about the same price, still less than the sum of this one item in the catalog. I cut the shanks off of the back of the buttons so that they would be flat. I then glue gunned the buttons onto the pin back. The results are what you see below. I made 14 victorian pins yesterday (July 27, 2004), although there are only 13 pictured here.


This is a picture of the pin backs and what the buttons look like with the shank on (the butterfly on the right) and with the shank cut off (the butterfly on the left).
